SPEECH, DRAMA & MUSICAL THEATRE

We offer a range of performing arts classes and private tuition at Bayside Ballet Academy in drama and musical theatre. Principal Lydia Cagney Morris is a current Examiner with the A.M.E.B-Australian Music Board for the Performing Arts Awards-P.A.A/Stageschool who conduct examinations in drama, dance, musical theatre and acting. Teacher of Musical Theatre Miss Ellie Martin is also a seasoned performer throughout Melbourne’s amateur theatrical societies and qualified in acting, musical theatre and dance.

At Bayside Ballet Academy, we keep class sizes small — usually 12–15 students — so every dancer receives the care and attention they deserve. When a class becomes full, we simply add another class to the timetable where possible.

We are happy to consider requests for friends or siblings of the same age or level to be placed together, provided it is suitable for their learning and development. While this cannot always be guaranteed, we will always do our best to accommodate these requests where appropriate.

Students are placed into classes based on age, experience and ability, ensuring the best learning environment for everyone. On rare occasions, a student may be invited to move into a higher level if they are demonstrating exceptional ability and readiness, but this is carefully assessed by the BBA Principal to ensure it is in the child’s best interest.

Our goal is to support every dancer with the right level of challenge and care, helping them enjoy their training and achieve their best in a positive, nurturing environment.
